Birthdays -- my middle son turns 27 on Saturday the 4th. I look at the pictures of my kids and it makes you wonder where the time went. It just seems like yesterday all he could talk about was dinosaurs. Oh well, one thing that doesn't change is my addiction to crafting and wanting to try it all. Today it was Cricut and Slice machines. Just plain fun!!

Dreaming

The weather here in Globe-Miami (or Miami-Globe depending which town you live in) has been absolutely beautiful. It's hard to be creative when you want to be outside. So, I will dream of the out doors and keep on crafting. I'm hoping to have a booth at the Boom Town Spree which is scheduled for April 15th. It's a traditional festival here in Miami, Arizona. Not only the usual booths of crafts and foods, but the mining community (we are a Copper town) holds the championships for mining activities - drilling, mucking etc. It's a friday, saturday and sunday of activities for a normally sleepy little town.

Tattered Lovelies

I know it's been a while since my last post. Life has been busy--at home, at work--a little bit of this here and a little bit of this there. I have really spread myself thin, but now it's time to "thicken" back up. This weekend was spent working on tattered things. I think my favorite was tattered flowers. Fun to make and what a wonderful vintage Frenchy look. Well, back to the workroom and more "playing" around. It's a good thing when work is considered play.

Christmas Day!!

Well, it's Christmas Day. I'm recouping from singing for two Masses yesterday; the children's Mass at 6:00p.m. and then Midnight Mass at, of course, midnight. Now its waiting for the ham to finish cooking and rush it on up to my son's house where the family is waiting. I have a hero for a husband. God could not have blessed me any better. My youngest son managed to make it all the way from college (4 hour trip) with a hole in his radiator. My hero is outside on Christmas day taking the radiator out of the car so we can be sure to order another and get our college kid back on the road before school starts again. Not every dad would be that dedicated to their kids; and these are his step-kids. In the meantime, it is time to think of the spring in the future -- Valentine's Day, Easter, St. Patrick's Day. My sugar plum dreams tonight will be of what to make during my vacation from work this week. Fun times ahead!! Maybe a trip to Phoenix and my favorite mill end store. I enjoy my treasure hunt there. Have a safe and wonderful New Year!!

Pale colors of elegance which come from the old courts of France -- it has become the Swedish style of elegance. I have been so busy the past week I haven't had a moment to tell the blog world hello. This is a busy time of the year; Advent, holiday season, whatever you call it, it's busy. At the church it was time to dig out the purple altar cloths for the Advent season. It is truly one of my favorite times of the year. Preparing the way for the birth of our Lord. It makes me stop and think a little more each day as we get closer to Christmas. The music I plan for our choir sets the stage of waiting -- waiting for the birth of the light of the world. Happy Advent to all. Back to the work room and a little crafting.

Five Days Into Three

Holidays are great and you get to spend time at home with your family. The only downside (and its not too much of a downside) is trying to fit 5 days of work into 3 days. My job at my church includes the bulletin for the weekend's Masses. Trying to make sure everything is in there that needs to be in 3 days can be a challenge as anyone who wants to add something usually waits until the last minute on Wednesday (Thursday and Friday -- see the kids!!). I am looking forward to my four days off as I have a lot of designing and crafting to catch up on. Etsy has kept me very busy the past couple of weeks and I long to create something new. Hopefully my next post will have the latest "crafty thing," as my grandkids call it, to show. I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving and a blessed holiday and Christmas season!

Why Do We Do What We Do?

Spent the last week getting ready for the Holiday House at church. We raise money by selling booth spaces to who ever wants to sell their wares, information, whatever; then we also have a rummage sale during that time and of course, we have a bake sale and fantastic homemade food (Susana you out did yourself). We raised over $500 on Saturday to benefit our St. Vincent here at my church. The winter months take their toll on low income people and we use our funds to help those about to lose their utilities. It's a seasonal thing; raise money in the spring for the upcoming cooling expenses and raise money in the fall for the heating expenses. In between its an emergency hotel room for someone, a prescription someone cannot afford, or help to get back home after losing your way. It may not be the biggest Holiday House in the world, but we work hard and we enjoy what we do. Soon it will be Lent and the Friday night Lenten dinners start, yes a lot of work, but you can't beat the gratification. "...And throw this useless servant into the darkness outside, where there will be wailing and grinding of teeth." Mt 25:21 Thank you to Fr. Jay who continues to remind us, or at least me, that there is a reason to my madness of going through the countless hours of work for we must be the children of light and not children of the dark.

Weekend? There was a Weekend?

And zoom goes the time. Spent all day yesterday (Saturday) helping to host a scholarship golf tourney here in town. My son had won the scholarship and was suppose to be here himself but ended up taking his state elementary education certification test on that day, so mom had to fill in. All I can say is what a long day. Now today (Sunday) was a little easier; went to church and then met the kids who were here from Flagstaff. That kind of day I can deal with. Took them to dinner (no cooking today) and saw them back on their way. I think I need to go back to work tomorrow to rest.

Oh how I love Christamas. Most of my crafting life has been spent making Christmas ornaments. I can remember as a young girl sticking toothpicks in a small styrofoam ball; carefully brushing each toothpick and the ball with glue and then pouring my grandma's glitter over it. Sparkle everywhere. Now days I get the younger grandkids together and we do "foamies" for our yearly ornament. The glue, the glitter, it's all there and the magic never leaves.

Well, another birthday come and gone. I tell my husband it's not a birthday any longer but a countdown to social security and medicare and a lot more time for my craft works. It was a good birthday; went to Mass and then to Mesa shopping--new dies for my Big Shot Pro and ordered a new Cricut cartride of Amazon (since I couldn't find it anywhere in the valley.) Looking forward to making all kinds of goodies. I was very excited to find ===Pink Christmas lights!! I will be digging out my white tree this year, most likely on Thanksgiving day:) Have a good week everyone and make something pretty.

Alone Time?

It always seems like when I plan to have my "alone time" something comes up. I'm sure that most creative people with a large family comes across this frustration once in a while. Whether its my "part time" job that turns into a 40 hour week, or some other unexpected turn, my crafting will get done all in good time. My long awaited alone weekend will turn into a trip out of town. My daughter who moved to Flagstaff last year rented a beautiful home; day before yesterday she discovered that the owner had let it go into foreclosure and now they have to move through no fault of hers. Now the frustration of trying to find a place to quickly move into. Prayers for my daughter and her family.

The Ribbon Wrap

For as long as I can remember, I have loved to wrap ribbon around everything. I don't know why, but I do. Once it is wrapped, I start to add things to it -- pictures, beads, flowers, you name it. I guess it's not a bad thing, and it is soothing just to keep wrapping an object that's plain and then have it shine with the color of the ribbon once it is covered. I will have to dig out some of my beaded creations I did a few years ago and share. I guess I'm afraid if I get them out I will want to make more. Try wrapping sometime with ribbon--it's a great stress buster:)

Lana, Ashlynn and Barry a.k.a Bug

Well, back from the car show/fly in at the Grand Canyon Airport at Valle, Arizona. I was hoping for nice cloudy and cool weather. It was that way on Friday as we traveled north. We went through Flagstaff having lunch with my youngest on his lunch break from marching band camp for NAU. It was sooo cool traveling on 180 to Valle. Then we woke up Saturday morning for the show. Hot. Sunny. Needless to say even with sunscreen and staying out of the direct sun, I would make a good lobster today. It was 95 with no clouds anywhere (until it was time to leave). Oh well, hubby's happy -- he took 3rd place out of about 25 1950-1959 cars all of which had a tremendous amount of chrome and modified engines. We have a 56 Ford Custom Victoria and it's all original - no chrome other than what originally came on the car. No modified engine, it's still the same one which is the same age as me. It obviously has a heck of a lot more get up and go than it do. Did get to see the grandkids though, so it was worth it for me too. Made a couple of cute little do-dads which I will have on my Etsy site soon. Stay cool!!

Grandma, Why Are You Singing Christmas Songs?

My grandson asked me this the other day as I was humming a song louder than I realized. I enjoy making Christmas things probably more than anything else. I guess my Christmas wish would be that everyone would have the spirit we shine with during the holidays. I always look forward to Advent and really try to impress its meaning onto the grandkids. I sing at one of the Masses on Sunday morning and the music for advent just helps the feeling of building up to that wonderful celebration of Christmas. Of course, my grandson replied after I explained all this to him -- oh, I thought maybe it made you feel cooler because its so hot. Gotta love it.

Taupe/Mauve Atelier Kit Available At My Etsy Site

I came home from my morning office job today to find my hubby had bought a nice 19" flat screen and hooked it up to the satellite -- in my studio. I may never leave this room. What a guy!! He is so good to me. Hopefully tomorrow I will have some different colors of distressed seam binding on etsy: Old Rose, Old Lilac and Old Teal. First Week Down And Done

Well, the first week of school is over; my grandkids picked up and delivered each afternoon safely. While I realize it was a hard decision to close my retail store (thank goodness for Etsy or I'd be lost), it's gratifying and satisfying to know my three grandkids are safe and at home. It also gives me the chance to be "grandma" and I hope they enjoy it as much as I do. My 1st grader and 4th grader jump into the truck and anxiously ask what snack I have for them today. Of course since we are in Arizona, the first thing is a big drink of cold water which I have waiting for them. Then its discussion time about who got in trouble and all the other "drama" the school provided for the day. Then its off to the high school to pick up my sophomore and her stories of the day. I must say I'm happy to be able to help my son and daughter-in-law this way. They are hard working and they are wonderful parents. It's tough raising kids today and not only does it take a village, it takes family to help family and if giving a little of myself each day is what it takes, sobeit. I have met a lot of grandparents who "don't want to be a "babysitter" because it interferres with their lives. I tell those grandparents I thank our wonderful Lord each and every day for every chance I have to be with my grandkids.

All In Good Time

While it has been painful closing down my retail shop, my wonderful hubby is doing everything he can to ease the pain. I came home yesterday to find my work table from the store set up and ready to go. The hardest part is finding storage space for the left over items in my store. I've decided that I won't do too much until cooler weather (I'd rather pay the rent then get heat stroke as we are in Arizona). Maybe a couple of plastic bins a week and doing the move slowly will not only ease me into a different mode of operation, but keep things a little more in order. Hubby has even promised me he will run a line from the satelite dish to my room and a new TV to boot. I wonder if he realizes what he is doing -- he may never get me out of that room.

Well, I started to clean out the room by step-grandson was staying in. Slowly its taking shape. It's so hard to do everyday chores when all I want to do is craft. Anybody else have that problem? Just lock me in my work room and slide food and drink to me. Solitary confinement in a craft room would be ideal. Received a new color of seam binding today; a beautiful beige with a touch of rose in it. Can't wait to play with it; wish my mail wasn't delivered so late in the afternoon.

Tea Dyed Lace Time

Tea Dyed Lace (And I Mean Real Tea)

I found some nice lace; not old but new, however it took to tea like a duck to water. For my seam binding I use a distress dye that is semi-permanent because the rayon doesn't dye with real tea. This lace starts out white and I leave in very strong tea over night and rinse it out in the morning. I love it!! I have some super wide lace that will be listed as well. Will be on Etsy soon!!

Home From New Mexico

We traveled to Colorado Springs over the weekend; one of those necessary "quick trips." Our grandson had been living with us for a while and decided he wanted to move back home with his mom. So, pack up and off we go. It was a long 10-12 hour trip one way, so doing this in 3 days was a little rough. We went straight through on Friday, spent the night at Colorado Springs, then left Saturday morning for the return trip home. We had decided on Thursday to cut the trip home in half and spend Saturday night in Santa Fe. Good decision, we were exhausted. We got to our hotel, had a nice dinner and then my wonderful hubby found a Michaels and a Hobby Lobby for me. Whoohoo -- that's all it takes to make my day. Found a couple of really nice paper stacks! I don't know if its just me, but my paper is like my fabric: It's so pretty I don't want to cut it. Oh well, eventually I will. Another Room

Well, I have one bedroom completely filled just with fabric and sewing "stuff." Decision time. Farewell small dining room you are now my "paper, ribbon and lace room." So, a new coat of paint, some peg board for hanging, my paper work table and by next weekend it should fall into place (at least so it is sort of planned). Actually, I'm really excited -- it has a window air conditioner so I think I will be hiding in there a lot. Have a great weekend everyone!!

It's sticky but at least it's not hot. I love the cloudy mornings during the summer. The beautiful shades of white to grey with patches of blue here and there. Sunrise this morning was gorgeous. The pinks and peaches sparkle. If only we could catch the "sparkle" in our crafts. Maybe I will try a new dye combo for my ribbons and call it Arizona Sunrise. We shall see-- Have a great day!

Monsoons Have Made Their Presence Known

Sitting at the store today and a loud (and I mean loud) clap of thunder made me jump. Immediately after that the rain she did come. It must have hit the mountains (the Pinals) fairly hard first. I have a local police scanner and I turned it on, and sure enough, they were closing all the roads through the local creeks; also had a small brush fire from a lighting strike. It actually brings memories of growing up here in the Miami-Globe area and all the rain we used to get. Afterwards, it smells so clean. I arrived home about 4:30ish and proceeded to make my pumpkin bread; one loaf for the bake sale tomorrow at church and the other for me and my hubby. BBQ 2 New York strips for dinner (they were on sale!!). Now sitting and listening to the thunder in the distance -- hummm another storm approaching! Let it rain - my roses love it.

What To Do, What To Do!!

I will be rethinking the store this month. It will have to be a choice between closing down the retail store or opening only on Fridays and Saturdays. I will be picking up the grandkids from school every day but Fridays. I do not want them to have to ride a bus for over an hour just to get home; that is absurd; and even more absurd is a first grader riding with high school kids. I will still be on Etsy, that's for sure. I would be lost without Etsy as an outlet. I will keep you posted. Meanwhile -- 50% off of everything in the store!!

Summer Time Again

Well, summer is definitely here isn't it. We have the very familiar temperatures and, unfortunately, the fires around us here in Arizona. We pray for all the people going through the terrible fires. I have lost a home to fire and it is something that stays with you for the rest of your life. We also pray for all the brave firefighters who work so hard to try and contain the wildfires. We thank you for your service.

Lana and Barry and Chickens

Since it is summer, my hubby is feeling the let's go somewhere bug a little more. We were in Flagstaff this weekend to see my son Robert, and my daughter Danielle and her family (Grandkids yay!!) We then hopped over to Jerome, Sedona and finally Prescott. Was a great trip and a much needed getaway.

The store hours this summer willl read: Open when I'm here, Closed when I'm not. Don't let that stop you from coming by. I should be keeping my normal hours more than not.

The summer clearance sale is now on. Everything except the felt and floss are 50% off. I want to add a few new things to the store so we need to move out to old for the new. Stop by and say hello real soon.

If you have been by the shop lately on Wednesday or Thursday, you find a little sign on my door explaining I'm closed for Grandma duty. My son's work schedule was switched to straight days leaving my grandchildren stranded and needing a ride home from school. Well, just two more days and school will be over and I will have a "back to normal" schedule. My wonderful hubby used to fill in for me when I did grandma duty, but he went back to work and so -- well, you get the idea. After the summer is over, we will figure things out for grandma duty. Blogspot working again!!

Blog Spot had been down for a few days, but its up and running again. Just in -- white and pink glassine bags; hot on the internet. Distress Reinkers are here to; they are selling out fast. I'm considering changing the shop from just needlework to needlework and shabby/rustic crafting supplies. I try to get new embroidery items in, but its the same stock every time. I wish these companies would get a little imagination and figure out what's popular now. How about some "French" classic designs; that would be nice. If only I could draw (that's one thing I absolutely cannot do, darn it). One more week of picking up grandkids from school. My son's shift changed two weeks ago and the kids needed rides home from school. Well, I'm a grandma first and a shop owner second. I have to confess, the shop has become more of a studio for my on line Etsy account. It's also become a great meeting place for all my friends, old and new. I have been playing with the idea of creating a work space for my friends; kind of an escape place. Well, more ribbon to dye -- sooooo much fun and, yes, it is habit forming.

Okay all of you crafters out there, whether its scrapbooking, altered art, french inspired art or whatever else, we have added our hand dyed rayon ribbon it the store. All of it has been hand dyed at the store and I have the funny colored fingers to prove it. Next week we should have some of the items in that we use to do this with as well as lots of ribbon to go with it. Love the Ranger products.

It has been a while since last blogging. I have been so busy lately between the shop, on-line shops, work, church, grandkids and so on. I have been adding something new in the store, Goodie Bags. Go-Go-Go

Well, home again after another trip to Flagstaff to see the kids and grandkids. Was my daughter's 35th birthday. On the way back, hubby had a job offer that I don't think anyone would refuse. So much for retirement for awhile, but he will be doing what he likes, driving those big tractor things (he laughs when I call them that). Just so my customers know, once he starts working, I will be closed an hour or so here and there to pick up the grandkids from school. He used to come in and work the store while I did that, but now that he will be working, that won't be happening. That's life, and I can only do what I can do and I think most grandmas agree -- the kids come first. Well, back to making some for ribbon roses. I think I will try a bridal bouquet. I fixed one up for my neice who got married this weekend using her mom's old bouquet flowers and some satin ribbon roses I made. Looked okay. Will post a picture when I'm done. See ya.

Whew--What A Week

I had the lonngggest week. Not complaining too much, but at the church office Friday, it seemed like whatever I touched no longer worked. It appears that my printer doesn't like envelopes and just to prove it, the printhead stopped working. Hopefully the new one will be in on Monday. Friday and Saturday I started making more headbands and hair clips using my melted rose technique. They look just like a dried flower. Love the look. Hope to put some on Etsy the first of next week. I get such a kick out of my granddaughter, Lexi, as she strolls through the store. Oh grandma, can I have this -- and of course she can. It thrills me to make something that young peole actually like. Today I finally fiinished our taxes and, thank goodness, my son's FASFA. Too many questions for this little brain. Oh well, done for a year!! Back to the ribbon and the heat gun.

Learning How To Use A New Phone

You never realize how a keyboard can be so helpful--until your phone doesn't have one. Touch screens: finally mastering it, sort of. Of course, my grandkids and kids have no problem with it. I apologize to people who have received a text from me that is nothing but jibberish. I'll eventually get the hang of it (maybe). Adding some beautiful headbands to the store. Will be making a wedding white one soon, still in the sketch mode. Sorry for the blurry pics, trying out the camera on my "new phone."

And We Are Back Up

Well, after a week of no internet at home and at the store, we are finally up and going. For a long time we were Alltel customers and completely happy. Well, nothing ever remains the same. AT&T bought out this area of Alltel and so went my nice little data cards with unlimited data. AT&T doesn't do that. So, cancel the data cards and order Qwest for the store and our local cable for the house because the Qwest internet doesn't run to our house. Anyway as of today we are up and running and I can finally get things done on line. Oh, Etsy, how I have missed you.

Wristlets and Gift Tags

Been busy doing family stuff up until yesterday. Finally managed to get a few wristlets sewn together as well as some gift tags to add to the stock. Between myself having that nasty stomach bug that was going around, then taking care of some family businesses out of town and now hubby has a real nasty cold, I feel lucky to get this much done. All in good time I suppose. Too bad I can't sew on the machine when traveling around; gotta stick to hand work.

Spoons - How Fun

I picked up some old silver spoons at the flea market a while back. I finally got my wonderful hubby to cut them and flatten them for me. (I can flatten them no problem, but he's got all the right tools to cut and drill holes in the darn things.) Didn't realize it would be so much fun to decorate them. I have seen them with stampings, but alas, no stamp set, so lace and fabric will do. Hope you enjoy the picture of the first one. More to follow. We will be making hooks out of the tops of the spoons and placing them on a nice wood backing. Can't wait to try that.

I sold the last crocheted rug in the store so it is definitely time to make more. I enjoy doing this so much, the preparation of the fabrics, the decision of what colors and patterns to put together. These crocheted rugs are wonderful. They are so soft to the bare tootsies. I hope to have some on our Etsy site very soon. Keep crafting!!

Another Year Gone

Well, Christmas is over and New Year's Eve is right around the corner. It looks like we will be escorting 2010 out with a possible big winter storm. I'm sure we won't see anything like back east, but in Arizona an inch in the desert can cause problems. Up north in areas such as Flagstaff and the Grand Canyon, they usually see a few feet every year and the skiing is great at Snowbowl. Down here in our area it's a different story. Five years ago we had a snow storm that knocked out power for three days and it was only about 4 inches at the most. This storm is predicted for about 6 to 8 inches. Oh well, time to dig out the big blankets, so good crafting projects and we will see what happens. Have a HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

Sweet Buttons

If you have ever been in my store/studio, you know about the copper kettle of buttons. They are such a fun thing to sit and run your hand through to see what you can grab. There is something about the white and off white pearly kind that just scream vintage or shabby or cottage. So many buttons.

Last Sunday we had our "1st Annual Cookiefest" at our church. Never in my dreams did I think it would be such a huge success!! I had donated a box of 100 bakery cookie boxes. We used them all!! We raised $753.00. On top of that we had a 50/50 raffle which has been running for about 3 months. By the end of the day we had a huge pot of $6,430.00. Santa was there for the kids as well. Why are we doing this? Our Lady's Center, which is our church hall, needs renovation. We are in Arizona and it still doesn't have air conditioning. We have a goal of about $20,000 just to do that. It's Cold?

That seems to be my husband's response when I say I'm cold. Here in Globe, Az, we are expecting a high of about 70 on Saturday (12/11). Of course it dips down to about 35 at night. My little store is in an extremely old building -- they didn't think about insulation back then. It seems sometimes its warmer outside than in here. My hubby says its just my imagination. Oh well, up north and across the country there's snow and ice. Closest thing we have here at the store is our button icicles ornments which have been a big hit this year. Well, it is Sunday evening and my mind is contemplating the busy Thanksgiving week ahead. My hubby and I have decided to close the store for the week and reopen on Wednesday, December 1st. Once in awhile you just need a little break. Preparing for Thanksgiving is a busy week. At my church where I work part-time we are busy in the hall kitchen getting ready for our annual St. Vincent Free Thanksgiving Dinner. It is open to the public and we usually have over 100 people. I expect a lot more this year as so many people have suffered through the latest economic crunch. Hence the time off from the store. Some things are just more important. May all of you have a wonderful Thanksgiving. Safe travels and come Monday, November 29th, let the holiday spirit grow in all of us. Blessings -- Harold & Denise

Christmas Pins - Made A Little Different

I'm making Christmas pins!! These pins are 1 - 1/4" inch in size and I make them a little different than your average pins. These have a cloth like finish instead of the old way of a paper picture covered by a plastic top. You can actually glue things on them and I have even covered mine with clear UTEE or a gold embossed edge. We have started a new Etsy site to coincide with our Remnants name and you can find it along the left side of this blog. Have a great Thanksgiving.

Christmas Is Coming!!

Yes, I know that Thanksgiving hasn't happened yet, but I have to keep up with the big time retailers. My tree may look pink, but it's actually white. I take a string of lights on white wire and my favorite shade of pearl pink fingernail polish and paint each little bulb with a very light coat and what do you know!! It gives a soft color ohhh so pretty. My lights at home are actually green wire lights painted pink, gold, and green alternating each color. It is such a romantic glow on a green tree. The green I actually picked up at Halloween because it was such a pretty olive color. Well -- back to work to set up my Christmas display. Give the polish a try in your favorite color!!

Our Local Car Show -- Finally Over

Yes, it's finally over. It's fun, it's work and I'm exhausted. I set up a booth as well with items from the store. As usual, the crocheted cotton wash cloths did the best. Totes and zipper bags were a close second and then fabric cuts. It was a beautiful October day and being a non-profit club the Gold-N-Oldies -- well we did great to raise funds to help out our local charities. Now it is time to -- GET READY FOR THE HOLIDAYS MY FAVORITE TIME OF YEAR!!

One More Birthday

Celebrated my 54th birthday yesterday (10-9). Started the day out with a wonderful breakfast out with my hubby. Opened the store and had a quiet day until about 2:30 when my son, daughter-in-law and the grandkids, Alexis, Michael and Eric stopped by with wonderful hand made cards by the boys. Then the big surprise, my daughter, son-in-law and their kids, Ashlynn, Lana and Barry, showed up all the way from Flagstaff which is a three and a half hour trip one way. Had cake and then we went to my parents' house and then dinner. We all then headed up to my son's house for a nice visit. Couldn't have asked for a better birthday.

I Need Air!!

Just got back from a weekend in Silver City, New Mexico. We take the trip every August to an annual car show in our 1956 Ford Victoria. We had a great time at the show as always. Found some great fabric for new projects for the store. The only thing I need on the trip is AIR CONDITIONING!! I guess I'm spoiled but it is just not fun to go through the desert with no air conditioning in the car. I wonder how people did it in the past. I realize, of course, and I'm sure any woman over 50 would, that each year the heat just seems to get hotter. It never used to bother me as much. Anyway back to work and here's a picture of my hubby and our car.

Looking Forward To Fall!!

With the 100 degree heat outside, you begin to wish for fall to hurry and appear. Now in Arizona, fall is a warmish time of year, but nothing near the 100+ days of July and August. Of course, not everywhere in Arizona is that hot; my daughter and son live in Flagstaff which is up north. It has only been in the 80's up there. Sometimes I think about moving up there with them, but when it snows, it snows. If I had to deal with a lot of snow, I couldn't get my orders out in a timely fashion. So for now, we will just stay inside out of the heat and work on our projects.

Tote Bags are so necessary, at least for me. I have to have a bag full of things to do any time I'm traveling. I fill them with my current projects like crocheting, embroidery -- not to mention a handful of magazines. These bags are a Remnants design. I'm working on a downloadable pattern. They are quick and easy to make and can be made with about two yards of fabric. They are soft and foldable so if you want to stick them in a suitcase for shopping on arrival, that's a plus. They will be showing up on our Etsy site - The Blissful Mind as well as being available at our store. Price is $15.00 with no inside pockets or $18.00 with inside pockets on both sides. The straps are about 16" so you can carry the tote on your shoulder if your hands are full.

Spent the last two days moving my daughter, her husband and the three kids, from Maricopa, Arizona (outside of Phoenix) as well as my youngest son from downtown Phoenix to beautiful Flagstaff, Arizona. What a job!! My son-in-law was transfered to a new position at the ADOC prison in Winslow where he is a sargeant, and my youngest boy will be continuing his education at NAU. It worked out for the both of them. They found a great home with an attached studio for my son. What more could you ask for!! Flagstaff is beautiful in the summer; it's green, it's cool, it's just wonderful. They will definitely be adjusting to winters, however, because it snows like crazy up there. But it's always great to come back home and get busy again on my projects.

My dream re-realized. My wonderful hubby now realizes that my store was the same to me as his classic cars are to him. When I closed The Pink Willow in October of 2009, my heart was broke, but I would do anything for my hubby. Well girls, we are back in business and our new name is Remnants. Embroidery supplies, cross stitch supplies, and general all around girly stuff that makes you feel good. Remnants is a term which can be used for anything and everything. Stop in and see me. We are located in historic Globe, Arizona. Our hours are Tuesday through Friday, 12:00 noon to 4:00 p.m. and Saturdays 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. I know that the noon time opening is odd, but I have a morning part-time job at my church that I love and hold dearly, so noon works. Once in awhile you may find me closed, but Hubby has to have attention too.
